Can I recover my password and/or pass phrase?  During the installation of our client software you are given the choice of recovering your pass phase.  If you select yes, then we can recover it for you.  If not, we can not.  This is very important.  If you lose your pass phase and have not selected recovery, we can not recover it or your data for you.  We strongly recommend Allowing Pass Phrase Recovery during our client install.

Your password can not be recovered, but we change it to a new one.  If you forget your password, send us an email and we will help you.

Can I keep my data on more than one computer?  Yes you can by installing the client software on each computer that is to receive the data.  Many of our clients use this to keep their laptop and desktop computers synchronized.  Another use is when families share an account and use genfolder to store  files they are working on together.

Can anyone else get to my data?  Only if you give them your login ID, password and pass phase.

Can I get to my data from the Internet?  Yes you can.  You can go to our website and follow the instructions to login with a browser.  You will need your Login ID, password, and pass phase.   

How do I recover just one file?  Open up your Internet browser, like Microsoft Internet Explorer®, and go to our server's website.  You would select the login option and enter your Login ID, Password, and Pass Phrase.  Next find the file you want to recover and drag-and-drop it to your computer.

How often does GenFolder backup my files?  That is really up to you.  We have the ability to update your files every time you login to the Internet and then do it based on time from the last synchronization.  You can also force a synchronization with our client software.
